Pits or Pigs...

One of the joys of longarm quilting is enjoying quilts vicariously through your clients.

Today I am quilting a bright, exciting quilt called Hot Flashes.  I purchased everything for this quilt many years ago.  I believe it was probably before the term "hot flash" applied to me.  My project that I was so excited about is sitting in a tub in a closet still waiting to be started.

I have several of those which we call PITS (projects in tubs) as opposed to PIGS (projects in grocery sacks).  I have enjoyed the popular Mending Fences quilt the same way.  I started mine in a class but never finished.  I've quilted several for others and still love the quilt.

I have probably quilted every PIT in my closet for someone else.  Maybe someday I will finish mine and be able to keep them.

Till later,
Randy

YEAH... they're here!!

In the midst of two days of cold, wet and dreary weather there has been some excitement around here!!!

Yesterday evening, after dark the UPS man left a box of thread on my front porch.  Not just any thread, but exciting new spring colors for our newest projects!!  Twenty new cones of thread!

I never thought that I would get so excited about thread, but I am..  Check out the new NEON colors..

Now, I have to rearrange my other threads so that I have plenty of room to put them up.  I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new ruler that I also ordered last week..

Receiving packages from the UPS delivery man makes me think of the time when my son was very young and was so excited that our UPS man gave him a cool birthday gift. It took him a while to be convinced that the train he got was actually from his grandmother.

Facebook Page

It's dreary and rainy here in the DFW, TX area and a ka-zillion thoughts come to mind as to what I could be doing instead of working!!

Last year, we made the absolute cutest Texas A&M T-Shirt quilt and I got a photo back of it today.. I know, I know.. it slipped away before I captured a photo.. I've posted the photo to our new Facebook page.

Yes, that's right.. we have created a new Facebook Page and didn't have to call a "technical" person to assist.  Can you believe it??  Anyho, it turned our super and we are now asking all to hit the "Like Us" on our site to get our exposure up.

Blogging again soon!

Saturday 1-7-12

The Sistas had a great time sewing today at our local favorite quilt shop.  As is our routing most Saturdays, we bring our machines, meet with other sewing friends and made a day of it.

Today, we met with a Client that has been an avid quilter for many years.  She recently finished a beautifully pieced king-size batik quilt that we quilted and put the binding on for the finishing touch.

This avid quilter is faced with the reality that due to health issues, she will not be able to finish any more projects.  Though like all of us quilters, she has several things in progress or on her wish list.

The Sistas are finishing her most important projects now.  We made pillowcases to go with her most recent quilt and we have completed a Christmas top that she so dearly wanted to give to her Sister.  In addition, we are piecing
a photographic memory quilt for her as well as a Santa lap quilt.

It is a wonderful, but humbling experience to know you can help someone realize their goals.  We send love, hugs and prayers to our friend, Joann.

Meet Gladys Camille Fox...

After 7 1/2 years of ownership I finally have a good name for my Gammill Classic Plus quilting machine. Nothing ever seemed right though I know of many others that have named their machines.

"Cammie" seemed sort of okay for a while because you can say Cammie the Gammie, but it just wasn't what I really wanted.  While looking out at the houses in my neighborhood quite often as I quilt, I feel like Gladys Kravitz from the old Bewitched TV show.

Nothing happens around here that I don't see.  If I miss it, my dog Zelda will see it since she is usually in the room at a window when I quilt.  Isn't that what a good assistant does?

Sew I am naming her "Gladys Camille Fox".  Didn't quite want to let go of the Cammie thing.  We'll see if this name sticks.

Till next time..Gladys and I will enjoy the weekend.
